POWER TO THE PODIUM: REAL TALK WITH OUR NEW MOS

It’s been a couple of months since we first introduced you to the seven lovely ladies that joined our Motivator tribe in January and we thought it was about time to catch up with them and find out what life on the podium is like.

Now it’s time to sit back, relax and laugh along side these fierce women who have already created the cutest girl gang bond and are killing it in class, minus a few hiccups along the way ;)

Q: What is something you have learned about yourself since stepping up to the podium?

A:  I’ve learned that putting yourself out there isn’t so scary ! By nature I am probably what you would describe as an introvert and the thought of stepping up on the podium at one point seemed laughable to me. But getting up on the bike allowed me to find my voice… and it's strong and a leader and LOUD ;).  There is something very powerful about a positive push, and I am grateful I pushed my boundaries to get into that room.

Q: Have you had any awkward or funny experiences while motivating?

A: Hmmm - someone threw up into a towel in one of my classes, but we probably don’t want that out there on instagram right? Haha

Q: if you could have any one person ride in your class, who would it be?

A: If I could have any one person ride in my class, it would be Dwayne Johnson because its about time that guy pushed himself physically

Q: What is something you have learned about yourself since stepping up to the podium?

A: For a long time, I was always so afraid to be authentically me. Stepping onto that podium has truly allowed me to embrace my quirks, to rock the music I love the most, and celebrate who I am as a human. Despite turning 31 this year, it's fun to finally figure out who I am and what makes me tick - shout out to that room and that podium for making it happen!

Q: Have you had any awkward or funny experiences while motivating?

A: When we were trialing the new bikes at Marda on the motivator podium I could not unclip or clip in. At all. During my stretch one day I could not unclip, so I panicked and moved my leg so aggressively I essentially fell off the bike. It was excessive. I am still apologizing to everyone who saw that happen!!

Q: If you could have any one person ride in your class, who would it be?

Hermione Granger. You can't find out how to pump and dip in Hogwarts: A History. (also she has been my hero since I was 9 years old).

Q: What is something you have learned about yourself since stepping up to the podium?

A: I've learned a lot about myself since stepping up onto the podium. Most importantly, that it is okay to be vulnerable. It's okay to mess up and laugh it off, cry if I feel overwhelmed or share a sense of defeat when on that podium. The Bikergang recognizes and connects with you even deeper when you are able to show all the sides of yourself while being on the bike.

Q: Have you had any awkward or funny experiences while motivating?

I feel like every time I step onto the bike I do something awkward. From telling a story to the Bikergang that I think is funny and failing with the punch line while laughing to myself over the mic to continually mentioning how sweaty I am while motivating. Also can't forget the amount of times I have done the awkward let's hug, no high five, no half fist bumps (which I also refer to as pumps constantly) after a class.

Q: If you could have any one person ride in your class, who would it be?

A: Amy Schumer because she would be one hell of a time in class!

Q: What is something you have learned about yourself since stepping up to the podium?

A: That my energy comes from the atmosphere and environment that the Bikergang creates in the room, they’re all so amazing! I like making fun of myself and it’s okay to make mistakes to say silly things! It’s part of my personality and I’m not only motivating the Bikergang, I’m pushing myself through.

Q: Have you had any awkward or funny experiences while motivating?

A: My laptop almost died mid class… ooooppppps! Imagine!

Q: If you could have any one person ride in your class, who would it be?

A: Chris Hemsworth…..who wouldn’t want the hottest Australian ever in the room!!!

Q: What is something you have learned about yourself since stepping up to the podium?

A:  Becoming a motivator has already taught me so much about myself. Mostly, it's aught me to keep listening to that little voice that tells me to try something new, say yes to the things I'm pulled towards and trust myself.

Q: Have you had any awkward or funny experiences while motivating?

A:  I had the power go out in one of my classes. I was always scared that something would go wrong in a class. Now that it has I realize that it's not that big of a deal...just like anything in life you just keep moving and eventually the lights come on, the music plays again and life goes on!

Q: If you could have any one person ride in your class, who would it be?

A: That's hard.  A lot of choices. I feel like we should invite Thomas Edison to a class to show him what kind of magic the whole lightbulb thing turned into at YYC Cycle.

Q: What is something you have learned about yourself since stepping up to the podium?

A: Since I've stepped up onto the podium, I've learned how to embrace being completely fearless. Before I became a Motivator, I was absolutely terrified of being in front of a group of people instructing a class. I didn't want to make a fool of myself! But now, as I instruct more and more classes, I feel limitless! I try not to worry about messing up, or making little mistakes. Every time I'm up on the podium, it's a rush. I love the atmosphere in that room and the Bikergang makes gives me the courage to be myself and have fun.

Q: Have you had any awkward or funny experiences while motivating?

A:One of my first classes, my MixPad randomly decided it didn't want to play my playlist two songs in. I had my playlist on iTunes too (thank god) but it started playing in a random order! So that class was a complete guessing game which song was going to come on next. I ended up manually selecting each track for the rest of the class. I still have anxiety thinking about it!!

Q: If you could have any one person ride in your class, who would it be?

A: M I C H E L L E O B A M A

If you haven’t had a chance to check out these ladies classes on the schedule we absolutely recommend hitting them up! They will kick your butts into shape and keep you laughing the entire time!
